VIDEOS: RETURNING TO IN-PERSON LEARNING

Students:  in today's Advisory, I provided information about the district's plan to begin a phased-in return to in-person learning following Spring Break, on April 6th.  This information includes a short summary of the district's status and intentions from Superintendent Bob Nelson, which is available HERE.

I also provided a link to a
VIDEO that I've made, called 'Red Tape On The Floor', which was made in the summer of 2020.   This video is still quite timely, and outlines the challenges that students and teachers will face when they attempt to return to in-person learning in classrooms like mine, that were designed for class sizes much smaller than those they are presently expected to support.

My position has always been that high class sizes create problems for classroom safety, long before the global pandemic:

Overall, I believe students and their families should want to learn more about the classroom settings available at their school sites before making decisions about whether to return their child to in-person learning in April.  As your teacher, it is my duty to return and I will work to do everything in my power to promote safety in the classroom.  That's really part of the science teacher's tool kit.

Further clarification and more details on the district's plan on how to return to in-person, simultaneous learning are expected to be released this week and in the following week.   As more details become available, I will share them with students and on this blog.  In the meantime, I have also made a Power Point of slides and links related to this post available to all students through a post in your Teams channel.
